Dr. Ganesh Ramalingamgraduated from National University of Singapore in 1997 and he completed his post graduate training and Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He is currently a Consultant General Surgeon with PanAsia Surgery at Mt Elizabeth Novena, Mt Elizabeth Orchard and Parkway East Hospitals, specializing in General Surgery, Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Endoscopy and Trauma.

Dr Ganesh was involved in a one year fellowship in Trauma at Beilinson Hospital, Rabin Medical Centre, Petach Tiqva, Israel. He participated in the teaching of paramedics and International students in both prehospital and inhospital Trauma and Critical Care and was in the roster for the Trauma Team during Activations. He organized and presented the monthly Trauma Audit lectures and gave talks at International Conferences representing Beilinson Hospital. He was also heavily involved in Critical Care of patients in the various Intensive Care Units, performing multiple bedside procedures like peritoneal washouts for open abdomen and percutaneous tracheostomy insertion. He also participated in the General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery programs in Beilinson Hospital where he was in the active roster as the senior surgeon on call for 6 months.

He is currently an active Member of the National Trauma Committee of Singapore. He has been an instructor for ATLS and DSTC courses for many years. He has acquired DSTC certification at both Singapore and Israel. He helped build up the Trauma System in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital from its inauguration was the Director of Trauma Committee and Member of ICU committee in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

Dr Ganesh has a strong interest in teaching. He was part of the Faculty of the Residency Program and Proctor for the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH). He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor, General Surgery at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, at National University of Singapore and was the coordinator for third year medical students on rotation to the General Surgical Department of KTPH.

He served in the Commando Unit since 1999 as a Commando Medical Officer during both his National Service and graduated from the Commando Conversion course and the Airbourne course during this period. He served the active commando unit as National Serviceman. He was very active in the National soccer scene and has represented the Singapore youth team and played in the National Football League. He is currently part of the Football Association of Singapore Medical Committee. Dr Ganesh has been on voluntary Humanitarian Efforts at Banda Aceh after the tsunami and Jogjakarta for the earthquake relief mission and has received awards for his participation.

Dr Ganesh has special research interests in Trauma, Critical Care, Advanced Laparoscopy and Bariatrics and published 13 original articles in various peer review journals to date together with multiple oral and poster presentations at conferences world-wide.
