Leo Seo Wei

Dr. Leo Seo Weiis a senior consultant ophthalmologist ( eye specialist and eye surgeon). Dr Leo Seo Wei graduated from medical school at the National University of Singapore in 1996 with the.Gold Medal & Book Prize in Ophthalmology. After completing basic specialist training in Singapore National Eye Centre, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital, she obtained her Membership of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (Ophth) in 2000 and Master of Medicine (Ophthalmology) in 2001. Dr Leo Seo Wei subsequently did her advanced Specialist training in Ophthalmology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. She obtained the Fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd (Ophth)) in 2004 and was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore (Ophthalmology) in 2004. Dr Leo Seo Wei received the Health Manpower Development Plan award from the Ministry of Health, Singapore. She also passed the United States Medical Licensing Examinations (USMLE). Dr Leo Seo Wei subsequently completed 2 intensive clinical fellowships in the USA. The first was an (ACGME) Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and (AAPOS) American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus-accredited clinical fellowship at the University of Michigan and W.K Kellogg Eye Center, Ann Arbor, under the tutelage of Prof Monte Del Monte and Prof Steven Archer. This was followed by a shorter stint with the renowned Dr Kenneth Wright in Wright Center for Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Los Angeles. Dr Leo Seo Wei returned to Singapore to work as a Consultant Ophthalmologist in Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital where she set up and helmed the Eye Alignment Clinic & Children’s Eye Centre. Dr Leo Seo Wei was also inaugural faculty for the AAPOS –TianJin Eye Centre Paediatric Ophthalmology fellowship programme. Prior to starting private practice, she was Senior Consultant, Department of Ophthalmology, Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Head, Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, National Healthcare Group Eye Institute. Dr Leo Seo Wei She was also clinical lecturer, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine; Core faculty, Singapore Polytechnic- Manchester University Optometry degree programme and Visiting Consultant, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Dr Leo Seo Wei has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and presented at international conferences in Asia-Pacific, Europe and USA. Besides being invited to conduct instructional workshops, Dr Leo Seo Weihas also performed live surgery at various international conferences. Accolades for her research work include 2004 The Eye Institute-Pfizer Research Prize for Best Original Paper and the best of show at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Throughout the years, Dr Leo Seo Wei has won numerous service excellence awards, including Clinical Excellence (EXSA) Silver 2008, Gold 2009.

Besides managing all aspects of general ophthalmology including cataract surgery, laser procedures and refractive surgery (LASIK), Dr Leo Seo Wei has special interests in strabismus surgery (adult & paediatric) and paediatric ophthalmology including anterior segment diseases, refractive errors and learning disabilities in children. Currently, Dr Leo is medical director at Dr Leo Adult & Paediatric Eye Specialist Pte Ltd. She is the immediate past Head of Paediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, National Healthcare Group Eye Institute and she remains as senior visiting consultant to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Dr Leo speaks English, Mandarin, Chinese dialects, Japanese and basic Bahasa Indonesian.
